Orit’s Birthday

For orit’s birthday this year we had a private chef come in for the evening one night, and then had a big fondue party for her friends the following night.  I did not take a lot of photos of guests at the big party, as i was busy preparing fondue and crepes, just mostly of the food the first night when the chef prepared dinner for us.

hes starting to really wiggle around now, and is starting to notice things and people around him more.  i cant wait till ill be able to teach him to fly model airplanes, be a garden expert, and a talented woodworker.  we may add glider pilot to that list too.

passover break

well, its almost passover here in israel, and that means that its spring break.  this means i dont have language school for three weeks almost.  people are still working, just the kids have off, and me.  ohh well.  what does this mean?  well, i can get around to doing some of the blogging ive been meaning to do.

not that ive been so busy that i couldn’t blog, well, i just got into the life of things here, and haven’t done anything really inspiring photography wise.  but that doesn’t mean stopping all together blogging too, i guess i just got a little over saturated after that last big go around when i first got here.

a few things i would like to note:

-my hebrew is progressing, but it may not look like it.  ive upgraded to reading print too now, which means i can technically read anything.  though the vowels are still missing on most print.  and if you dont know what the word is, im just guessing half the time how to say it.  but in my school book im reading all kinds of stuff!

-my vocal, verb and everything is slowly growing, but i still find it difficult to have a conversation.  but im understanding more and more.

-march is when things really start to warm up here.  all the trees are coming back to life, and we had some days of 30+C days.  super nice.  its dropping down again here and there, but things are for sure warming up.

-i love walking around in the orchard and seeing all the trees come back to life.  ive been pruning everything like mad, as many of the older tree’s have been neglected for many years.  its more than i can do only visiting them once a week or so.  the first batch of grapefruit are gone :(  (no more fresh juices) but the trees already in bloom again.  Same as the lemon tree.

-i viciously hacked away at the grapes this year.  i want to get some good tasting grapes.  its such an established vine, i just trimmed to the main branches, but if this doesn’t work, ill be even more brutal next year.

-my new passion vine is starting off slowly.  so i hope that means hes rooting well.  still no flowers on the main vine, so thats good.  we have some time for the second baby passion fruit vine to take hold.

-running has been going well.  the warm weather has helped.  though we went one hot day, and that was brutal.  once it gets warm ill have to wake up early in order to beat the heat.  i really need to add actual gym time back into my routine though

-we have a lot of upcoming travel this summer.  going to italy for three weeks, west coast for a month, and possibly london.  so that should be fun.

-still havent found any hoppy beer to speak of.  just means i dont drink beer anymore.

-blew up my radio control by accident.  so no model airplanes till i go states side again.

-ive started getting into hydroponics.  ill have a full post on that one soon.

-ohh, i had my first full (test) seder in hebrew at our Ulpan(school).  that was interesting.  songs and everything.

i think thats all i can think of at the moment.  walking around i think of things i want to mention, and then i forget.  i guess i should write them down.  Hope this finds everyone doing well.
