Last night in england, in france tomorrow!

So, we spent the day in london today again.  went in around 10am, and got the bus tour around london.  we took it for a little while, to trafalger square, and saw that.  next we went towards picadilly circus, and met a friend of noa’s from high school.  we went and had fish and chips with him, which i thought were pretty good.

after that, we walked towards covent garden, and looked at some of the shops there.  i kept calling it covenent.  anyways, looked at some stores there, and then walked back to trafalger square to get back on the bus!  we took the bus around for another hour, listening to wonderfull london history, and freezing my ass off on the top of the bus!

we stopped at the tate museum, which is a huge museum that is pretty much free.  the pretty much coolest thing is that they had these huge slides inside, which were pieces of art, that you could slide down!  FUN! finally, some useful art!

after that we met up with giacomo and took the train home.  now were making pasta, and gonna have dinner soon!

So, tomorrow, we leave for france!  im going to be in audincourt france, for 5 days with my godmother!  i may not have internet there..  so, if that is the case, i will upload pictures after this sat, when we go back to amsterdam!

Till then!

Update about first outing in london!

After arriving in england, we took the train to london to meet our friend giacomo who was going to keep our luggage for the day until we met up at 5 to go home with him to brighton.

PB102199PB102201he took us around at his lunch hour, and showed us some sights and set us down the thames to keep looking around. we saw things like the tower of london, on the left here, which isnt acutally a very big tower..  and the tower bridge, which is on the right here.  people always think this is the london bridge, but its not.  the london bridge really is nothing special..

what i thought was really crazy is that at lunch time, grous of people stand around, outside of pubs, and just drink beer.  seems very typical of england, to me.  they love their beer.  PLUS, your allowed to just walk around outside and drink too.  this still seems very crazy to my north american mind.  we werent even allowed to do that in amsterdam!

PB102249PB102262Lastly, we stumbled across the globe theatre, and well..  we got sidetracked by noa there for a few hours.  we went on the tour, which takes you around and you get told the history of the globe, as they know it and stuff.  this is actually the third globe theatre, the first one was burned down during a show, the second one was torn down by the monarchy, and..  this is the third.  it was spearheaded by an american who was a shakespere finatic, and wanted to see the theatre back in action.

after that, we went and met giac at his office and made our way to the train station, for the hour long train ride home.  you know what the crazy thing is….  if your a regular commuter, you can get wireless for your laptop in the train!

update from the trips to brussels!

So, its sunday. i uploaded some pictures last night, and am now getting around to posting about brussels and london! First, lets start with …

Brussels!

PB082108we took the train into brussels for a day trip, to visit my 2 high school friends rob and leander! noa and i left about noon, and its a 3 hour train ride to get there! we arrived, and got into the central train station, and went straight out to walk around and see some of the sights. we didint really have any idea of where to go, so we just started walking around. we saw some fun streets like these on the left.

PB082127Another cool thing about begium is that they have a lot of different types of beer, like this store, which boasts 250 different types of beer! i guess they make a lot of different flavors and stuff, like rasberry beer! next time i go visit i need to test out some of these. then we stumbled upon this square, with really nice old buildings. these are shown below…

lastly, we also went and saw “the peeing boy” which is actually really small, i thought it was like a huge statue, but its not. and there were a lot of people just crowding around trying to have a look. pretty funny, i thought. and a lot less interesting than i thought. we just took a picture and left.

PB082181Lastly, theres a picture of rob, leo and i infront of some building.  anyways, we didnt get to stay long in brussels, but it was nice to see friends again, and hang out, even for a few hours.  im planning on returning for 2 days after we get back from france.
