Liberty Pit

So,

The liberty pit is the project that im working on again here in nevada. Its an old pit that was started to be mined in 1907, we think the second open pit in the world actually. they used to use steam shovels and trains to load the ore and waste out.

it continued to be mined by many different companies, lastly by BHP in 1995-1999 when the copper price was so low they closed it down. Then we bought the mine, and never went back into that pit.

Here is how it looks today.

That on the left side is the mother of all slope failures. the angle of repose of natural bad rock tends to be at 15 degrees or so, this has failed to about 10. its nasty stuff. we hope to stick to the right side of the pit, and the bottom, where the ore is. eventually we might go in and mitigate the big slope failure.

there has been lots of fun stuff going on here, im just working so much that i havent been able to get anything posted.

hopefully there is much more to come!
